The Regulatory Council of the denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero finishes the harvest of this year. From September 22 to November 7, 8,258 winegrowers and 308 wineries have participated in the harvest of the 22,319 hectares registered in the Denomination of Origin, reaching the 133 million kilos of which 96% belongs to Tinto fino or Country ink; Guaranteeing both the highest quality standards and the good condition of the grapes.

In the words of Agustín Alonso, Director of the Technical Area of Ribera del Duero: "In general, Ribera del Duero wines that will be drunk from 2017 will be fresher and more Atlantic. This harvest is reminiscent of Ribera del Duero in the late 80s and 90s, with wines with a high coloration emphasizing their bluish tones and the memory in its aroma of black and mineral fruits with some floral tones and balanced in the mouth with enough Weight of tannin and good length and persistence. "
The good preparation and correct maintenance of the vineyard by the winemakers of the Ribera has been fundamental to prevent possible diseases and to guarantee the evolution of the cycle of maturation of the grape.
In order to carry out this harvest The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero has incorporated 211 assistants of veedor who have carried out the control of the quality of the grape at the entrance to the winery and 16 engineers to be able to exercise the work of Expert appraisers in charge of control the performance in plot, and thus to quantify the amount of grapes per hectare, ensuring that the allowed regulatory limits are not exceeded.
It is worth noting that the entire process of collecting grapes is completely computerized, so that the data has been constantly updated.
